Familial macular defects.

چکیده
THE description of individual disorders of the macula by various names has led to confusion. Several familial and hereditary macular diseases have been classified under the title of heredo-macular degeneration. In this category is Best's disease, which is described as a familial congenital macular defect. This is a rare condition, characterized by retention of good central vision and lack of progression of the lesions. Varying degrees of abnormality of the macula have been noted in different members of the same family, the clinical appearances resembling those described in Best's disease (congenital macular and paramacular atrophic defect).

Probable common origin of a hereditary fundus dystrophy (Sorsby's familial pseudoinflammatory macular dystrophy) in an English and Australian family.
A genealogical link was established six generations back between a family living in England and Australia, and one of the families reported originally by Sorsby et al (1949) as suffering from autosomal dominant inflammatory macular dystrophy (fundus dystrophy). The onset--in the fifth decade of life--and the progress of the condition, which usually ends in blindness, has been observed in a numb...

متن کاملA CDH3 Mutation is Segregated in an Iranian Family with Congenital Hypotrichosis and Juvenile Macular Dystrophy
Backgrounds Hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy (HJMD) is a rare genetic disorder caused from mutations in the Cadherin 3 (CDH3) gene. Results In the present study, we reported an Iranian family with three affected members born to a consanguineous parent. Mutational analysis using whole exome sequencing has revealed a nucleotide change in CDH3 gene (NM_001793:exon8:c.830delG) which l...

OBJECTIVE To present the clinical spectrum of lamellar macular defects and describe the different subtypes based on their optical coherence tomography (OCT) configuration and visual prognosis. METHODS The retrospective observational case series reviewed OCT scans of 92 eyes with lamellar macular defects. Lamellar macular defects were categorised into subtypes of macular pseudohole (MPH), lame...
